The Fabled Thread

Eppie Thompson is the founder of The Fabled Thread, a business she created out of her love for sewing and her desire to help others discover the same joy. After being inspired by a sampler made by her grandmother, Eppie tried her hand at sewing when making a gift for friends and quickly became captivated by the meditative process. Realising this was the perfect antidote to her stressful finance career, she decided to leave her corporate job in 2020 to start The Fabled Thread.

What began as a small venture from a corner of her bedroom with just three kits has now grown into a flourishing business offering over 100 embroidery and needlepoint kits. The company also provides framing, decorative painting, virtual courses, workshops, and more. Based in Islington, London, Eppie and her team of five work from a studio filled with colour, pattern, and embroidery, creating everything in-house.

Eppie’s mission is to empower others to explore their creativity and experience the joy of making. The studio is open for virtual tours or by appointment for in-person shopping, offering a personalised and welcoming space for everyone to discover the pleasures of sewing.
