Tibet, Shangdrok, The Three Animal Crossbody Shoulder Bag
The three animal crossbody/ shoulder bag
<About the pattern>
There's a Tibetan proverb: "The three animals: horse, yak and sheep, are the ones that nomads rely on for living." Animals are always important in nomads' life, since there is hardly much vegetation and plants around that can provide what they need to survive on the plateau. The animals are more like family members. They usually have names, and when they die, the Tibetan would usually chant for them. That is why we came up with this abstract "three bars" pattern on the cover, to remind us of these "three" animals.
When carrying the bag cross-body, the black and white strap is reminiscent of the pulu fabric on the collar of Tibetan robes.
