In the mountain region of Hutsulshchyna, in the Ukrainian Carpathians, GUSHKA revives a way of life shaped by sheep, wool, and the enduring rhythm of the highlands. Founded in 2016 by Oleg Lukaniuk and Daryna Furmaniuk, the brand grew from a desire to honour the craft traditions of the region and the knowledge carried by its artisans. Their journey began with the guidance of Lyubov Rybenchuk, a third-generation weaver, whose expertise helped transform a local practice into a living, contemporary craft.
Working with 100% Carpathian wool, sourced from sheep that graze the mountain pastures, GUSHKA creates handwoven rugs, pillows, poufs, and blankets inspired by the colours and patterns of the surrounding landscape. Each piece passes through a careful process — from shearing and cleaning the fleece to spinning, dyeing, and weaving — guided by techniques that have been handed down for generations.
At its heart, GUSHKA is about people and place. The brand sees wool weaving not only as craft but as a way of sustaining community, celebrating the hands and stories behind every object.
Balancing tradition with contemporary design, GUSHKA’s textiles bring the warmth and resilience of Carpathian life into the home — each one a quiet testament to heritage, landscape, and care.
