United Kingdom, Surrey, The Crafts Study Centre
The Crafts Study Centre is a specialist museum and research centre dedicated to 20th- and 21st-century craft, including significant holdings in textiles, print, weave and embroidery alongside ceramics, calligraphy, furniture and other material arts. Based at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, Surrey, its acclaimed collections feature work by pioneering makers such as Ethel Mairet, Phyllis Barron and Dorothy Larcher—noted for their hand-printed and hand-woven textiles—together with a rich archive of diaries, working notes, sketches and photographs that document craft practice and creative process. Exhibitions, open days, lectures and workshops bring craft histories and techniques to life, while dedicated research facilities and a specialist library support deeper study of textiles and material culture.
