Product name: Shepherd’s Socks in Picot Edged Trio

Type of product: Socks

Description (story of the item): Made to Order:

3 Pairs of Picot Edged Hung Hemmed socks in Natural Wool Colors

1st Pair is knitted with Natural Colored Light Fawn Shetland wool yarn

2nd Pair is knitted with Natural Latte Brown Shetland wool yarn.

3rd Pair is knitted with Natural Silver grey Gotland wool yarn.

These Shepherd's Socks are a rare piece of clothing, in that they are knitted on the farm where the wool is grown. They are made one at a time on an antique sock machine made about the time our old farm house was built, 1910. These machines produce socks with tiny even stitches that hold up very well. And the wool used is our Shetland natural colored wool we lovingly raise.

Each pair comes with a little bobbin of extra yarn, should the need for darning arise. These socks are truly old school tradition in that the wool was minimally processed to preserve the softness, durability and comfort of the natural wool. (Unlike super wash, which is scoured in heavy chemicals to remove the outer scales of the wool.) After a few times wearing and hand washing, laying the socks to dry, you should be able to wash in the machine in cold water, delicate cycle-and put on a towel to dry.

I hope you enjoy your Shepherd's Socks as much as I enjoyed making them!

Materials: Two types of yarn:

  1. 80% Shetland Wool, 10% Nylon, 10% Merino Wool , with added strand of cobweb lycra
  2. 60% Gotland Wool, 10% Nylon, 30% Merino Wool with added strand of cobweb lycra

Ships within 5-6 weeks of order.
