United States, Pennsylvania, National Museum of the American Coverlet
The National Museum of the American Coverlet is the first independent, year-round institution devoted to the history, craft and artistry of historic American woven coverlets. Housed in a beautifully preserved 1859 former Common School building in downtown Bedford, the museum presents rotating exhibitions of 80–100 colourful coverlets — alongside spinning wheels, barn-frame looms and weaving tools — illustrating the evolution of hand-loomed bedcovers from the late 18th to the late 19th century. Through its displays and educational programmes, the museum brings to life the technical skill and cultural contexts of coverlet weaving, celebrating both local craft traditions and broader threads of American material culture.
