Until 26 January 2026:Dirty Looks, Desire and Decay in Fashion

There are more than 60 designers and 120 looks spanning over 50 years at the Barbican, revealing a gradual shift from a subversive critique of established norms to a more contemplative awareness of the consequences of one of the world's most polluting industry. On display are graduates from Central Saint Martins. "We saw that young designers were grappling with these ideas about the passing of time, decay, regeneration and rebirth," explains curator Karen Van Godtsenhoven. "Dirt symbolises a connection to shared humanity and human emotions."
