Vivienne Richmond - botaniq
'botaniq' is an exquisite ‘plant silk’ yarn hand-dyed by Vivienne Richmond. Soft, lustrous and biodegradable, the yarn is made from Tencel, a cellulose fibre with a low environmental impact, and dyed with plants and minerals by Vivienne Richmond. Vivienne grows and responsibly forages the dyes or buys them from ethical suppliers. She produces limited-edition batches of each colour, dyes only during the summer months, outdoors, and uses the waste dye-plant material and dye water in her garden
'botaniq' yarn is a fingering-weight vegan alternative to silk, ideal for making accessories such as scarves, collars, scrunchies, trimmings and tassels. It is available in 25g and 100g skeins as well as the popular multi-colour 5x10g mini-skein bundles. Vivienne also designs crochet patterns for 'botaniq', produces kits suitable for experienced beginner/intermediate+ crocheters, and a range of ready-made crochet accessories using a finer gauge and more complex techniques. She welcomes commissions. All 'botaniq' products are labelled with the dyes used to colour them. All packaging is biodegradable and, where possible, made from recycled materials.
Vivienne is a Sussex-based textile historian, writer, maker and designer focused on low-waste, environmentally-friendly crafting.
