This June, the UK government announced a sensation of import taxes being levied on clothing and textiles imported into the UK, a game-changing development for the fashion industry. In celebration of this, and to coincide with London Fashion Week, Selvedge will present the first Indian Designer Showroom in the city. Showcasing eight of India’s leading designers, all working in the realm of handcrafted contemporary clothing.

Taking place at Asia House, a grade II listed Georgian townhouse with a bespoke gallery space that is only a stone’s throw away from London’s central shopping districts. Asia House is a prestigious cultural institution connecting Asia and Europe. Their mission, to build political and business connections that foster long-term, sustainable relationships, makes this an excellent partnership to host the first London showroom.

Spanning three days, the showroom will first open its doors on Wednesday, 17 and Thursday, 18 September to buyers from leading stores and boutiques, offering a private opportunity to explore and place orders for their Spring/Summer 2026 collections. On the final day, fashion enthusiasts and Selvedge readers are invited to meet the designers, place orders, and even shop select pieces ahead of their store debuts.

The showcasing designers include Soham Dave, Eka, MAKU, Paiwand, Padmaja, Injiri, RaasLeela and Ka-Sha.
