Join textile artist Yasmeen Branton from Sand & Stars for a gentle, enriching workshop dedicated to the art of needle-turn appliqué. This traditional hand-sewing technique invites you to slow down, connect with fabric, and enjoy the quiet satisfaction of stitching by hand.
Branton's love of sewing began in childhood and led her to study at the Royal School of Needlework, where she deepened her appreciation for embroidery and craftsmanship. Her creative path has included working in film and television as an embroidery assistant, and today she shares her passion through patterns, tutorials, and workshops designed to inspire and encourage. With a calm, supportive approach, Branton helps makers discover the therapeutic joy of working with needle and thread.
This six-hour workshop is suitable for all levels, whether you are a complete beginner or looking to expand your hand-stitching practice. You will be introduced to the essential tools, materials, and techniques of needle-turn appliqué, and explore how to work with colour and pattern to bring your designs to life. Using a thoughtfully designed pattern, you will learn how to stitch a variety of shapes and build confidence in your own creative style.
The session is structured at a relaxed pace, with time to ask questions, reflect on your work, and enjoy the simple pleasure of hand sewing.
All materials provided, and all skill levels are welcome. You will leave with a completed appliqué sample or the beginnings of a larger piece, along with the skills and confidence to continue developing your hand-stitching practice at home.
