Win a Handwoven Tangaliya Bedcover from This and That
About the Prize:
From Indian interior design studio This and That, based in Ahmedabad, you could win a handwoven Tangaliya bedcover in white.
Tangaliya is a distinctive weaving technique from Gujarat that creates a geometric raised dot pattern by knotting extra threads into the warp during weaving. The result is a beautifully textured bedcover that, in its soft white tone, will complement any home and become a long-lasting, cherished piece for the lucky reader.
Worth £500.
About This and That
Founded in 2016, This and That grew from the long-established interior design practice of Ariane Thakore Ginwala. Unable to find the objects she imagined for her spaces, she began designing them herself. A collaboration with a carpentry workshop in Ahmedabad became the foundation of the brand — a dialogue between designer and craftsman that continues to shape each collection. The studio has since won multiple EDIDA awards for interior products, securing a distinctive place in India’s contemporary design story.
Trained as a Spatial Designer at the Kent Institute of Art and Design, Ariane’s love of craft began in childhood, inspired by the renovation of her family home and travels across India. After briefly pursuing a master’s in Economics, she returned to design with clarity and purpose.
The rediscovery of early chair sketches led to the first This and That collection, developed with master woodworker Ishwar Bhai. That close partnership remains central to the studio’s identity.
Blending traditional techniques, sustainable materials and careful research, Ariane’s process always begins with paper, pencil and eraser — design as much about editing as creating. Alongside her studio practice, she teaches and serves as jury member at the National Institute of Design, and is currently expanding into sustainable architecture with an ambitious wildlife project in Maharashtra.
