About Rapture & Wright:
Founded in 2004 by Peter Thwaites and Rebecca Aird, Rapture & Wright grew from a shared desire to make something lasting by hand. Rebecca, formerly a graphic designer, and Peter, an illustrator working internationally on murals and decorative finishes, turned their portfolio of patterns into a collection of fabrics and wallpapers. Armed with a hand-built print table in a leaky barn and a determination to support British manufacturing, they began printing the hard way.
Today, their workshop remains one of the few hand-print studios left in the UK. Here, ideas move from sketch to screen, and from screen to cloth. Each colour requires its own screen; inks are mixed by hand, and fabric is carefully rolled, pressed and aligned before printing begins. It can take two people a full day to print just 30 metres. It's a slow process, but one that produces richly layered, subtly varied results.
Rapture & Wright adapt traditional screen-printing techniques for contemporary interiors, balancing bespoke flexibility with time-honoured craft. The repeat is carefully designed to remain invisible, creating a seamless flow across the cloth. Slight shifts in pressure and ink depth introduce a gentle tonal rhythm, ensuring every length is unique.
Committed to responsible production, they have developed an environmentally sustainable print works, proving that the hand of the maker need not leave a mark on the planet.
