Zuzana Hrabcakova - Trava & Wool
Zuzana Hrabcakova works under the name Trava & Wool, where natural dyeing engages every sense. She is drawn to the whole process: watching plants grow from seed, then watching them transform fabric and fibre into colours that are mostly unpredictable. Each colour carries its own scent memory — flowers, plants, dye baths, textiles — all connected.
Self-taught, Zuzana brings a slightly unruly, imperfect style of floral embroidery to reclaimed fabrics, turning them into simple, unique project bags and other objects, made as ideas come. The harmony of natural dyes opens up many possibilities when choosing yarn for a project.
Connecting plants and textiles is what she loves and what she does. She prefers to see, smell and touch her materials — talking about them matters far less.
