HANDWOVEN DIGITAL TAPESTRY
Fiona J Sperryn produces sustainable fine art textiles. Her unique wall art is created from original drawings. Each tapestry is carefully woven by hand in her studio in Cornwall on a TC2 digital jacquard loom.

Her Scapes series is developed from original charcoal drawings of imaginary places and woven using mostly post-industry deadstock yarns for warp and weft, with the addition of dip-dyeing some of her pieces with indigo once off the loom.

In contrast, her colourful Shallows: Surface, Fiona wanted to create the feel of standing in a warm sea with the sun glinting off the water and the patterns playing on the sand beneath the water.

A recent exhibitor at Future Icons Selects at the Bargehouse as part of London Craft Week, Fiona continues to develop her technical knowledge that underpins the design process. Yarns are consciously sourced, while her studio and loom are run using only green energy and weave sampling is targeted to ensure that there is little or no wastage in projects and commissions.
