Blue Gold: Kozii's Indigo Story
Before it turns blue, indigo is yellow. Pull a length of cloth from the vat and for a few seconds it holds the colour of pond water, dull and unremarkable, until the air reaches it. Then it darkens into the deep, saturated hue that has been prized, fought over and even used as currency for thousands of years. It is this moment, oxidation turning liquid into legend, that sits at the heart of Kozii's Indigos collection.

The Portuguese brand, founded in Tavira by Cecília and Nuno, has built its reputation on slowness and on stories gathered over decades of travel. Cecília's path began unexpectedly in the 1990s, designing batik garments with local women while visiting her parents in Mozambique. An Anthropology of Art degree from the University of San Francisco followed, then eight years producing textiles across Mexico, India, Thailand, Brazil and Guatemala, including a collaboration with the Pataxó community in Brazil, where she met Nuno.
