Call For Exhibitors
Thank you to everyone who has supported our Kickstarter campaign so far, we’re very grateful for your donations and have reached our initial target. This is great news as it will enable us to set a further reach target and to expand our plans for the content of the event, to include more workshops and demonstrations, as well as, a short film festival which will be screened in Vintage Mobile Cinema.
Our plans for the Selvedge World Fair, a celebration of craft, culture and creativity, are taking shape. The makers we love will be at the heart of our live events. There are two categories in which you can submit an application: The work must either be a traditional or an innovative interpretation of crafts indigenous to your home country.
We are accepting applications from individual artists, companies, NGOs, co-operatives and not-for-profit organisations. As a potential exhibitor, you can register your interest on the Selvedge website. When applications open, your work will be considered by a panel of curators, academics,In the second stage, a committee of retail experts will assess entries in order to curate an interesting and varied shopping experience. Finally, the work will be cross-referenced against your original application to make sure every item on display has passed through the selection process.
Thus far, we have received many enquiries and are expecting over a thousand applications. From this pool, we will go on to select one hundred exhibitors. This rigorous process will enable us to present the finest examples of each craft, from each country. My hope is that we will have representatives from as many countries as possible, sharing techniques in weaving, knitting, dyeing, quilting, embroidery and much more.
Many of the techniques and processes on show at the World Fair will have been featured in the pages of Selvedge, so this really will be the place to see the magazine come to life.
Please spread the word and help us to encourage applications from as many talented artists as possible.
