Pop
'If you stretch a textile over a hollow object and strike it you can create a rhythm.' As Polly Leonard points out in her introduction to the latest edition of Selvedge, 'Pop', the distance between textiles and music is not as great as you may initially think.
At the heart of this issue is cross fertilisation of ideas between music, textiles and art. Throughout the magazine there are dozens of musicians cited as inspirations by different writers, artists and designers. Although there are mentions of musicians ranging from Handel to Queen, the mood of the magazine feels very particular - a picnic on a 1960s summer afternoon with a handful of, yet to be known, movers and shakers comes to mind. Given that our contributors are from all over the world, all disciplines and different generations, it is especially satisfactory to see such a clear mood and collection of references throughout.

We couldn't resist writing down the soundtrack we have all been listening to since the issue's conception...
