STITCHING FOR UKRAINE
We're sending our thoughts and prayers to our friends in Ukraine during this terrible time. In an effort to help, we've organised a not-for-profit fundraising workshop to raise as much money as possible for the UN Ukraine Humanitarian Fund.
The cost of the needle-turn appliqué workshop is a flat fee of £30 and customers can tip an additional amount during the checkout process. We would like to raise as much money as possible for Ukraine so tipping is encouraged!
Jennifer Raish will be guiding workshop participants through the process of needle-turn appliqué - a hand-sewing method for creating imagery with fabric. It is often used in quilt motifs along with or instead of patchwork. With needle turn appliqué, seams are turned under so no raw edges are exposed. A great example where this technique shines is in Hawaiian quilts. It can be used in all sorts of other textile projects as well.
All are welcome to join in this community making session, regardless of experience in hand sewing.
We would like to thank Jennifer whole-heartedly for giving up her time and expertise for the workshop, as well as Ursula Becker of PatchWerkstatt and Nina Reingruber of 1001quiltstiche.de. for donating supplies to Jennifer for preparing patterns and samples for this workshop.
