Threads of Tradition: Unveiling the Artistry and Culture of Mayan Textiles with Routes Interiors
At Routes Interiors, they weave more than textiles; they weave stories, culture, and generations of wisdom into every piece. The journey began with a profound intention: to reconnect with the origins of textile creation and honour the rich heritage of Mayan weavers.
The name "Routes" signifies their commitment to exploring the origins of textiles, drawing inspiration from deep cultural roots and natural fibres that Indigenous communities have worked with for centuries.
Angharad, the founder, began her journey travelling through Central America and falling in love with Mayan textiles. Their craftsmanship, luxurious quality, and cultural significance captivated her. After years in the fashion industry, she felt a deep disconnect from mass-produced Western textiles and longed to return to the authenticity she had witnessed in Mexico.
