We love linen
Yesterday I visited the flax producing area in Northern Europe which produces 70% of the world's linen. I saw the flax fields just coming into flower at a farm in Dunkirk. I visited La Linere in Bombourge, the largest scutching mill in the area; their warehouse with bales of flax piled floor to ceiling made an impressive sight! Finally I watched skilled workers as they ladder stitched table linen at the Alexander Turpault factory. The day confirmed my long held passion for linen... Gosh I’m so jealous – I love printing on linen it’s such as beautiful fabric and I hope some day I will find time to visit flax producing areas to see it being produced.
I love linen so much. I’ve always been fascinated with the process of manufacturing it and other materials, like cotton.
I too like the look and feel of linen fabric. The wrinkles and all make the garment’s appearance unique.
I am obsessed with linen! How it just gets better with age, it’s softness and strength and the beautiful drape of heavy utilitarian linens. I’ve started making children’s clothes with recycled linen, it’s just beautiful.
So envious! Would love to see that for myself.
