Handwoven by artisans in Bengal, this stole is made using the authentic jamdani technique, where each motif is delicately inserted by hand on a hand-picked warp. The craft is an intricate conversation between the weaver and the loom, producing a textile that bears quiet traces of time and touch.
This piece brings together fine mill-spun cotton and handspun cotton, achieving a balance of lightness and texture. The fabric is dyed by hand in natural indigo, its soft blue tones emerging through repeated immersion and careful drying.
Designed in the studio of Karomi Crafts & Textile, the stole features the Chawki motif—meaning “square” in the local language. Here, four small chawki are grouped to form a larger square, creating a measured rhythm across the surface. The result is a textile of calm geometry, blending tradition with thoughtful design.
Subtle variations in tone and weave are part of its handmade character.
