Inspired by a nineteenth-century Kashmiri shawl, this elegant cashmere piece revives a historic design distinguished by a field of finely detailed floral butis. Woven using the traditional Kani technique, the intricate motifs are created directly on the loom with small wooden bobbins, known as kanis, each carrying a different coloured yarn. This painstaking method allows for exceptional precision and richly nuanced patterns.
Set against a deep antique emerald ground, the crisp outlines and carefully balanced palette give the miniature motifs remarkable clarity and depth. A beautiful example of Kashmir's weaving heritage, the shawl combines historical inspiration with extraordinary technical craftsmanship.
