Discover how textiles can enrich your everyday life through a unique, intimate experience designed for curious minds, collectors, makers and design enthusiasts. Join a small group for an engaging conversation with expert curators and textile specialists, where you'll gain fresh insights into the stories, craftsmanship and cultural significance woven into every fabric.
As part of Selvedge's London Textile Month, this exclusive session invites you to slow down, look closely and experience textiles beyond fashion or interiors. Explore a thoughtfully curated collection of vintage and contemporary textiles presented by The Distance Travelled, a store, exhibition and conversation space dedicated to uncovering the remarkable stories behind everyday objects. Through touch, observation and discussion, you'll discover how textiles connect us to heritage, identity, sustainability and the people who make them.
Rather than a formal lecture, this is a relaxed, interactive gathering where questions are encouraged and meaningful conversations unfold naturally. Meet fellow textile lovers, exchange ideas with knowledgeable experts, and leave with a deeper appreciation of the artistry and longevity of beautifully made cloth. Whether you're passionate about sustainable living, craftsmanship or simply curious about the world of textiles, you'll come away inspired to see the fabrics that surround you with fresh eyes—and perhaps make more thoughtful choices about the textiles you bring into your own life.
Koryo Badeweyo Campbell is the founder and curator behind The Distance Travelled, a Brixton-based store and storytelling platform.
The stunning treasure-trove of artefacts from around the world also celebrates the founder’s British-African heritage and love of craft through thoughtfully curated collectable objects.
Inspired by journeys across the world with a focus on the African continent, The Distance Travelled is a concept store, exhibition space, and curated accommodation that shares the stories, cultures, and connections woven into every object.
