Thursday 4 September, 2-4 p.m.: Workshop: Stitching with Nature with Katerina Knight - SOLD OUT
TICKETS TO THIS EVENT ARE NOW SOLD OUT
Garden Museum, Lambeth Palace Road, London, SE1 7LB
Tickets available here via the Garden Museum website.
In this gentle and grounding workshop, artist Katerina Knight will guide you through a series of hand embroidery techniques using a most unexpected medium — dried flowers, herbs, and seeds. Lavender, cornflower, rosemary, and dahlia petals become your palette, each one carefully chosen from her own garden or foraged with care from the wild, whispering hills of Malvern.
Katerina Knight is a textile artist, writer, and educator who has transitioned from a career in the luxury fashion industry to embrace a slow artistic practice. She graduated with a Masters in Textiles from the Royal College of Art London as a Burberry scholar and was shortlisted for the Dorothy Waxman Prize 2023.
Now residing in the picturesque countryside of Malvern, Worcestershire, Katerina enjoys long walks in nature, where she forages for wild plants and cultivates her own in the community garden of her local Buddhist temple.
This is a workshop that invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and connect - with nature, with your hands, and with your inner rhythm. Whether you’re a lover of textiles, a gardener at heart, a curious beginner, or someone simply seeking a moment of quiet creativity, this experience is for you. Let each stitch be a meditation, each flower a muse.
Taking place at the Garden Museum in London - a serene and inspiring space nestled beside Lambeth Palace on the banks of the Thames - the workshop is part of a wider celebration of horticulture, heritage, and handmade craft. Housed within a deconsecrated church, the museum is home to a peaceful garden, exhibitions exploring Britain’s gardening history, and the Garden Café, a light-filled space serving seasonal, plant-focused food and excellent coffee.
All materials will be provided, including a beautiful array of sustainably gathered plants, and there’s no need to bring anything with you - just your curiosity and an openness to the process. You will bring home a unique embroidery piece made with dried botanicals, along with a grounding introduction to working with natural materials and hand-stitching techniques.
