Mexico, Arudeko, Pedal Loom Woven Textiles
Founded in 2016 in Mexico City by sisters Nailea and Denisse Arnaiz, ARUDEKO was born from a journey to Oaxaca and a profound encounter with the region’s weaving traditions. What began as a moment of connection has grown into an ongoing collaboration with artisan communities, where design and craft evolve together, mano a mano.
Working on traditional pedal looms, ARUDEKO develops textiles that bridge heritage and contemporary design. Each piece is the result of shared knowledge — shaped by dialogue between designers and weavers, where process is as valued as outcome.
Using wool dyed with natural dyes, cotton, and specialised fibres, their textiles are woven slowly and intentionally. Made to order, they adapt in scale, colour, and pattern, allowing each creation to respond to its environment while preserving the integrity of the handmade.
ARUDEKO is guided by respect, collaboration, and transparency. Through fair practices and long-term relationships with artisans, the studio seeks to sustain both livelihoods and techniques. Their work brings traditional weaving into contemporary spaces — a quiet testament to the enduring relevance of craft, and to the stories carried within every thread.
