Win a Wool Shawl from Looms of Ladakh

About the Prize:

Inspired by the spring blooms that brighten Ladakh’s high-altitude landscape, the Mentok Shawl takes its name from the Ladakhi word for flower. Its delicate motifs are woven using the extra weft technique which is a first of its kind in Ladakh. Complemented by a traditional black and white warp rib stripe along the border, the shawl echoes the Challi patterns found in the region’s handwoven home textiles.

Handwoven by the women artisans of Ladakh, this exquisite shawl is crafted from a blend of soft down hair from the Changluk sheep and fine Merino wool, resulting in an exceptional balance of warmth, lightness, and texture. The yarns are mill-spun and dyed using Azo-free dyes, ensuring both sustainability and quality.

Beautifully soft yet full of character, the Mentok Shawl captures the essence of Ladakh — its wild beauty, craftsmanship, and enduring traditions.

Composition: 50% Ladakhi Sheep Wool, 50% Merino Wool
Size: 82 x 37 inches

Worth £450

About Looms of Ladakh:

Looms of Ladakh is a movement, design house, and vision for ethical luxury. Founded in 2017 by Abhilasha Bahuguna and G. Prasanna, the initiative unites Ladakh’s herder-artisans in a farm-to-fashion cooperative that connects traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design.

The story began with a commitment to revitalising the region’s ancient wool traditions and ensuring fair opportunities for the artisans behind them. Seeing the decline of Pashmina weaving and the challenges faced by rural women, Bahuguna and Prasanna created a model where artisans could craft, manage, and own their enterprise.

Today, Looms of Ladakh is a herder-artisan-led luxury collective producing refined textiles from ethically sourced Ladakhi Pashmina and sheep wool. Every piece reflects heritage skill, ecological balance, and design integrity.

Through decentralised village studios, the brand provides training for first-generation weavers, safeguards indigenous knowledge, and builds sustainable livelihoods. Positioned at the meeting point of design, culture, and sustainability, Looms of Ladakh offers a new approach to responsible fashion, where craftsmanship and community shape the fabric of luxury.
