London Fashion Week: A Selvedge Offering
London Fashion Week (Thursday 18 – Monday 22 September 2025) needs little introduction. As one of the “Big Four” global fashion weeks, it is a platform where creativity and innovation meet, showcasing diverse British talent to the world. This year, alongside the catwalks and digital events organised by the British Fashion Council, Selvedge is proud to present a unique addition to the calendar: the Designer Showroom: India’s Leading Contemporary Designers.
Taking place as part of London Textile Month at Asia House, a Grade II listed Georgian townhouse just steps from central London’s shopping districts, the showroom brings together seven trailblazing designers who are reshaping Indian fashion through the lens of craft, sustainability, and contemporary design. It is the first time Selvedge has hosted a showroom in London, and the setting — a cultural institution dedicated to building sustainable connections between Asia and Europe — makes it the perfect home for this debut.
This milestone event also comes at a timely moment. Earlier this summer, the UK government announced the cessation of import taxes on clothing and textiles from India, eliminating the 10–12% duty disadvantage that had challenged exporters. The agreement marks a game-changing opportunity for India’s textile and fashion industry, which is the second-largest employment generator in the country. Against this backdrop, the Selvedge showroom offers a vital platform for connecting Indian designers directly with the UK market.
Spanning three days, the showroom will open to buyers on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 September, offering an exclusive opportunity to preview and place orders for Spring/Summer 2026 collections. On Friday 19 September, the doors open to the public, when Selvedge readers and fashion enthusiasts can meet the designers, place orders, and even shop select pieces ahead of their boutique launches.
The Designers
Rooted in India’s handloom traditions, Injiri sustains age-old crafts like Jamdani, Bandhani, and Chikan, reinterpreted with quiet elegance. Farooqui’s philosophy centres on continuity, working with the same artisan groups season after season to preserve livelihoods and heritage.
Based in Ahmedabad, Soham Dave creates minimal, seasonless garments crafted from handwoven natural fibres. His slow fashion label prioritises small batches, reuse of offcuts, and a quiet design language rooted in feeling rather than fleeting trends.
An artist-led label working with indigo-dyed handwoven textiles, Maku champions khadi and Jamdani weaving. Each garment is a meditation on craft and sustainability, resisting mass consumerism with collaborative, artisan-led design.
Founded as an upcycling studio, Paiwand transforms textile waste into handwoven fabrics and garments. Through its commitment to circular production, the label champions sustainability while reviving traditional techniques.
With roots in India’s craft villages, Padmaja’s work brings a timeless sophistication to everyday clothing. Her Mumbai studio collaborates with artisan communities, creating collections that have been celebrated on international stages.
A zero-waste studio where every stitch is hand-sewn, RaasLeela blends traditional sewing practices with contemporary aesthetics. The label celebrates imperfection, irregularity, and the deeply human quality of handmade garments.
Ka-Sha (Karishma Shahani Khan)
Known for bold storytelling and sustainable design, Ka-Sha fuses handcraft with contemporary wearability. Its “Heart to Haat” initiative embodies a zero-waste philosophy, transforming textile waste into functional new forms. Read an exclusive interview with Ka-Sha founder and designer Karishma Shahani-Khan in the latest issue of Selvedge magazine, Issue 126 Deco.
Together, these seven designers represent a movement that honours craft while pushing the boundaries of contemporary design. Their presence in London underscores how heritage practices can remain relevant, evolving to meet the needs of modern wardrobes without losing their integrity.
As London Fashion Week celebrates creativity on a global stage, the Selvedge Designer Showroom invites audiences to experience directly the beauty in the artisanship of these collections — to see, touch, and engage with garments that carry centuries of knowledge into the future. It is both a celebration of Indian craftsmanship and a vision for a more sustainable fashion world.
